As senior vice president and chief accounting officer with Cousins Properties, Jay Harris is responsible for all accounting functions within the organization and all internal and public-company reporting.
In his 28 year career, Jay has transitioned from public accounting to specialize in the real estate industry. Since joining Cousins in 2005, Jay significantly improved the Company’s financial reporting and has established his expertise in managing all the financial aspects of the equity offerings of Cousins. Jay has also been directly involved in the ongoing implementation of the Yardi Information Management System.
Prior to joining Cousins Properties, Jay was vice president and controller with Wells Real Estate Funds, Inc., where he was instrumental in the company’s implementation of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
As a senior vice president and chief financial officer with JDN Realty Corporation, he worked to stabilize the company during a time of financial and operating distress and led the effort that resulted in the successful sale of the company. Prior to JDN Realty Corporation, Jay worked with Ernst & Young, LLP for nine years.
